50-75GHz WR-15 WAVEGUIDE ATTENUATOR
A WAVEGUIDE ATTENUATOR achieves this reduction by introducing controlled loss into the signal path, without causing significant reflection.
A WAVEGUIDE ATTENUATOR can be designed using three primary mechanisms: resistive film/insertion, absorption by lossy dielectric materials, or mechanical vane/rotary structures.
A WAVEGUIDE ATTENUATOR based on the resistive vane type uses a thin resistive card placed along the E‑plane of the waveguide—the card intersects the electric field lines and dissipates microwave energy as heat.
A WAVEGUIDE ATTENUATOR of the rotary vane type consists of three sections: an input fixed resistive vane, a rotatable resistive vane, and an output fixed resistive vane—rotating the middle vane changes the attenuation level continuously.
Match flange types –
A WAVEGUIDE ATTENUATOR requires the same flange type (UG, CPR, cover, or choke) as the adjacent waveguide components.
For variable attenuators – adjust the dial/drum –
Rotate the calibrated dial of a WAVEGUIDE ATTENUATOR to set the desired attenuation value; read the setting from the engraved scale.
